Duane A. Hanson, 79, Grand Forks, ND died Saturday, April 20, 2013 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Duane Arnold Hanson was born April 5, 1934 on the Ross farm near Fisher, MN the son of Arnold and Edna (Ross) Hanson. He grew up and attended school in Warren, MN. In his freshman year, he moved to Crookston, MN. He graduated from Crookston High School in 1953. Duane served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Ft. Benning, GA. He later returned to Crookston where he farmed with his father before moving to Grand Forks. In 1958, Duane joined the Grand Forks Police Department and worked as a police officer until 1996, retiring as Sergeant.

Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert, and granddaughter, Jessica D. Hanson. The Rev. Gerald L. Potter, 85, Priest of the Diocese of Fargo passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Prairie View, 4000 Valley Square in Grand Forks.

Gerald L. Potter was born July 15, 1927 in Minneapolis, MN the son of Joseph A. and Mary Eileen (Uriell) Potter. He attended St. Bridget’s Grade School, De LaSalle High School in Minneapolis and St. John’s Preparatory High School in Collegeville, MN. He graduated from St. John’s University in 1949 with degrees in English, Philosophy and History. During his college years, he was known for his theatrical role of Hamlet. He studied Theology at St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN and graduated from St. Bonaventure Seminary, in New York. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Fargo on June 5, 1954 in the Cathedral of St. Paul, St. Paul, MN. Fr. Potter was assigned as the Parochial Vicar of St. Mary’s Cathedral and instructor of Religion at Shanley High School in Fargo, ND. During this time, he became Parochial Vicar of St. Paul’s Newman Center, North Dakota State University and Editor of the “Catholic Action News”. Fr. Potter was assigned as the Parochial Vicar of St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, University of North Dakota from 1957-1960. During the summer months, Fr. Potter pursued advanced theological studies at the University of Notre Dame; eventually receiving a Master of Arts in Early Christian Literature. He also studied at the Angelicum University and the Gregorian University in Rome, Italy, culminating in the writing of his Doctoral Dissertation, “The Idea of Preaching According to JohnHenry Cardinal Newman”.

Paul William Wolfgram was born December 17, 1927 in Niagara, ND the son of William and Olga (Koeppel) Wolfgram. He was raised in Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School. Following his graduation, he was employed with the Great Northern Railroad. He entered the United States Army on October 31, 1950 at Fargo, ND and served in Germany. He was honorably discharged from military service on October 13, 1952 at Fort Custer, MI. He returned to Grand Forks and was employed with the Grand Forks Police Department. He enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and later transferred to the North Dakota Army National Guard, 321 Engineering Battalion retiring in 1985. He attended vocational school in Staples, MN, training in tool and die production and attended technical college in Detroit Lakes, MN, training in small engine repair. He owned and operated Wolfgram Engine Repair in Grand Forks until his retirement. Paul married Theresa Lunski on November 25, 1953 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks.
