MEN'S BASKETBALL: Gophers lose fifth straight
MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota coach Tubby Smith sat glumly in his chair on the raised Williams Arena floor, hunched over for much of the game while the Gophers stumbled to their 21st loss in their last 27 Big Ten games. The difference this time was that they were out of tune from the start. There was no late blown lead on this afternoon.

Lauris Molbert, Fargo, column: Nickname fight hurts UND on national stage
I believe that many of those who support a law or constitutional amendment to force the use of the Fighting Sioux name and logo have good intentions, but the emotions and frustrations have clouded the issue. The issue should only be what is best for the university, not what logo or name is best.

Judges' ties to University of Minnesota: Ties that bind?
Because of ties to the University of Minnesota -- the state's largest university and law school -- three of the high court's seven justices have opted not to hear a nearly five-year-old case involving the U of M's basketball program that has wound its way to the state's high court for a final decision. But three of the four remaining justices, including a specially appointed replacement, also have ties to the U.
