New Employees Shaughn Burnison, Research Scientist, works to develop geophysical models of the subsurface, perform regional geologic characterization for clients, and perform petrophysical analyses of geophysical well log data. Dr. Panqing (Tony) Gao, Research Engineer in the Oil and Gas Group, works to develop geophysical models of the subsurface and run dynamic simulations to determine the long-term fate of produced/injected fluids, including hydrocarbons, CO2, and brine, using oil and gas industry simulation software. Andrew Gorz, Research Specialist, works to support ongoing geologic- and petroleum engineering-based data management, including sorting, compiling, and understanding geologic and petroleum engineering data, creation of maps and diagrams, and report writing. Thomas Doll, Senior Petroleum Engineer, works remotely from Casper, Wyoming. Promotions James Duzan, Senior Intellectual Property Manager, serves on a team of commercialization and technical experts who manage intellectual property for EERC technologies. John Hamling, Senior Research Manager, serves as task manager and principal investigator with the Plains CO2 Reduction (PCOR) Partnership, where he leads a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers working to develop and implement monitoring, verification, and accounting concepts for large-scale CO2 storage and enhanced oil recovery operations.

Melissa Bakke has been hired as the Sales and Marketing Coordinator of the Dakota Student newspaper at UND. In this role, Bakke will manage advertising sales, marketing, client relations, distribution, and daily operations of the newspaper. Bakke’s office is located in UND’s Memorial Union, which is also the home of the Dakota Student. Prior to joining UND, Bakke worked at the Gap in Grand Forks as a Brand logistic and Marketing Manager. Originally from East Grand Forks, Bakke holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design Technology with a minor in Entrepreneurship from the University of North Dakota.
