Ferne T. Schill, age 92, of Hillsboro, ND, formerly of Lakota, ND, passed away on Thursday, January 17 2013 at Sanford Hillsboro Nursing Home.
Ferne was born June 22, 1920 in Milton, ND to Donald M. and Martha A. (McKay) McLeod. Ferne graduated from Mayville State Teachers College in 1942 and subsequently taught in several rural schools in Northeastern North Dakota. She married Elmer Schill on August 2, 1947 in Milton. After living in Clyde and Easby, ND, they moved to Lakota in 1952. Elmer passed away April 7, 1990. Ferne continued to live in Lakota until moving to Breckenridge, MN in 2002 and then to Hillsboro in 2007. Ferne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lakota. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending her time playing cards, gardening, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

Ferne T. Schill, age 92, of Hillsboro, ND, formerly of Lakota, ND, passed away on Thursday, January 17 2013 at Sanford Hillsboro Nursing Home.

Glen Gunderson
Glen Gunderson, 92, of Cavalier, ND passed away on January 12, 2013, at the Borg Pioneer Home in Mountain. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Bathgate, ND at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service and Masonic service, at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND Interment Bathgate Cemetery, Bathgate, ND.
Glen was born on February 22, 1920, at the home of his grandmother in Grafton, ND to Henry and Olive (Hall) Gunderson. He grew up in rural Hoople, ND and was confirmed at Park Center rural church. He attended rural school and graduated from Hoople High School, then attended NDAC for the short course in agriculture. In 1939, he moved to Bathgate where the family resided, farmed and still owns farmland. From March of 1942 to November of 1945, he served in the US Navy. Glen served as an Armed Guard & was discharged as a Gunner Mate 2nd class. On February 14, 1948, he married May Morrison in Bathgate, ND.

Glen G. Knetter, age 77, resident of Lakota, ND, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

He later opened a cheese factory in Medina, ND and Pilot Mound, Manitoba with his brothers. Glen was married to Beverly Schneider. He then began operating Knetter Trucking and the Bartlett Hog Farm. Glen married Donna Ahonen Larson on September 18, 1992. He was a lifetime member of the WI and ND Cheesemakers Association and served as president for the last 4 years that it was in existence. Glen retired from the cheese factory in 1995 after 30+ years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing in his younger years, and in recent years he enjoyed traveling in his motor home.

Runa Sveen, 93, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home, Mountain, ND following a brief illness.
Gudrun H. “Runa” Eastman was born on the family farm in Akra Township, Pembina County, ND on February 26, 1919 to Sigurbjorn “Barney” and Christine (Dinusson) Eastman. She was the youngest of six children. Runa grew up in the Akra-Hallson area, attending elementary school at the Eastman School and graduated Cavalier High School in 1937. She later attended Wahpeton State School of Science.

Therese Benoit Charrier ,92,of Walhalla, ND passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, Langdon, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm rosary at the church on Friday, January 11th. Burial in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Therese Emma Marcotte was born the 13th of 17 children to Irenee and Lea (Fontaine) Marcotte in St. Malo, Manitoba on October 18, 1920. On February 14, 1947, she married Richard Benoit and they farmed near Walhalla. Richard passed away in 1953. Therese moved into town and worked for Ed Lorenz in his insurance agency. This is where she met Louis Charrier. They were married in 1966, and combined their families in Landgon.
