Marvin Lee, 96, of Northwood, ND passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 at 2:00pm at West Union Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, ND. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00pm with a 7:00pm prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood.

Marvin Henry Lee was born April 13, 1917 to Halvor and Minnie (Berger) Lee. He attended Hillside School, one mile south of the farm, where he completed 8th grade. His father died in 1936 and he stayed at home until 1938. He was raised to manhood in Loretta Township. Marvin remembers the crops in 1934 as bring poor, rusting out in 1935, and no crop at all in 1936. In 1939 and 1940, he worked for Gust Skjoiten. In 1941, he worked harvest in South Dakota, Kansas, Del Rapids and west.

Todd was born on September 6, 1962, in Grafton, North Dakota to Allen and Donna (Haug) Fisher. Todd attended Grafton Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He graduated from Grafton Central High School in The Class of 1980.

Norrine D. Rockstad
Norrine D. Rockstad, age 84, of Fisher, MN, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Riverview Health in Crookston. Norrine was born on August 19, 1928 in Ada, MN, daughter of William and Eleanor (Zenner) Lundon. She grew up and was educated at Ada, graduating from high school there. She was united in marriage with Richard Donald Rockstad on December 2, 1947 in Ada. They moved to Halstad, Minnesota, where they lived until moving to Fisher, Minnesota, fifty-nine years ago. She enjoyed baking and crocheting.

Norrine is survived by two daughters and three sons: Sandy Pfannenstein of St. Cloud, Nancy Olek of Fargo, Greg (Loretta) Rockstad of East Grand Forks, Rick Rockstad of Fisher, and David Rockstad of St. Cloud; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild; siblings: Dick (Betty) Lundon of Dilworth, Phyllis (Clayton) Drake of Fargo, Dorothy (Hank) Aaby of Twin Valley, Ellen (Ronald) Holtman of Crookston, and Joanie (Mark) Chisholm of Gary. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Eleanor Lundon; a brother: William Lundon; her husband: Richard Rockstad in 1997; a son: Phillip Rockstad; and a grandson: Nathan Rockstad.

Marian Gunstinson
Marian J. Gunstinson, 89, of Fisher, MN passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Riverview Health in Crookston, MN. She was currently residing at Hillcrest Senior Living Center in Red Lake Falls, MN

Marian was born May 11, 1924 in Grand Forks, ND to William and Mae (Gunness) Rutherford. She grew up in Key West, MN and graduated as salutatorian in 1942 from Fisher High School. Marian attended Normal Teacher Training in East Grand Forks, MN before teaching school in Bygland, MN. She also substitute taught in Fisher. Marian was united in marriage to Ervin Gunstinson on August 18, 1946 in Crookston. Sadly he passed away on December 1, 1997. She worked for many years at Beiswenger’s Jack & Jill grocery store in Fisher. Marian belonged to the Fisher American Legion Auxiliary #242 for 66 years, the Sons of Norway, St. Andrew’s Society of Fargo, ND, and she was a member of Fisher Lutheran Church and served as Treasurer for many years.

Margaret Skjervem
Margaret Skjervem, age 87, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Whitman, ND, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.

Margaret Genieve Anderson was born April 5, 1926 in Michigan, ND, the daughter of Christian and Anna (Gustafson) Anderson. She was raised on her parents’ farm. Margaret attended a rural elementary school and graduated from Michigan High School in 1944. After high school she spent five years helping care for her grandmother at Aunt Mintie’s home in Michigan. She worked as a nanny in the cities and as a nurse’s aide in Sharon, ND and at the hospital in Michigan, ND. She married Leland Skjervem on April 18, 1958 and lived on the farm until the fall of 2004 when she moved to Lakota. She has resided at the Good Samaritan home since December of 2004. Leland passed away October 25, 2006.

Ardell T. Bestland
Ardell T. Bestland age 84 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Monday, May 13th, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Ardell Truman Bestland was born on January 22, 1929 in Grand Forks, the son of Theodore and Bergine (Egeland) Bestland. Ardell grew up in rural East Grand Forks, MN and attended Central High School in East Grand Forks. In 1950 he joined the United States Air Force and served his country until his discharge in 1954. He worked for the Grand Forks Airport and BK Air Spray for a number of years. He married Carole Anderson on December 23, 1958. He worked for the Grand Forks Airmotive as a mechanic and was a pilot that flew Airmail. On April 16, 1983 he was united in marriage to Virginia “Ginger” Vacura in Alexandria, MN. Ardell then worked for Minnkota Power as a chief pilot and was director of maintenance and an FAA certified mechanic.
