MaryBeth (Bogart) Martin, 53, Grand Forks, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at her home after losing a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends.
MaryBeth was born on May 16, 1959, the daughter of Marlyn and Phyllis (Thompson) Bogart. MaryBeth grew up in Milnor, North Dakota, graduating from Milnor High School. She attended Golden Valley Lutheran College, in Golden Valley, Minnesota with a degree in Parish Work. She then moved to Grand Forks, and attended the University of North Dakota, graduating with a degree in Social Work. During college, she worked at the White Banner Uniform Shop.

When Alexander Azenkeng’s pregnant wife was gravely ill last spring, he wasn’t concerned about losing his job at UND’s Energy and Environmental Research Center. One of the center’s few international employees, Azenkeng said he was allowed to stay home for a full month with his wife and their newborn. Few places would offer this and still let him keep his job, he said.
