Eva May Sampson
Eva May Sampson, 77, of Hatton, ND peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.

Eva was born January 15, 1936 in Acushnet, MA to Edward and Nellie (Hughes) Chace of Dartmouth, MA. She graduated from New Bedford Vocational School in 1953 and married the late Granville Sampson on September 5 of that same year. Eva took care of the home raising their four children. In 1989, after Granville's retirement, the couple moved to North Dakota, living with their daughter until buying a home in Sharon, ND. In April 2011, Eva moved in with her daughter in Hatton, where she lived until her death.

Margie Olson
Margie Ruth Weiler was born on November 27, 1950 in Greenbush, MN, the daughter of Richard and Sally (Stromberg) Weiler. She grew to womanhood in the Newfolden and Strandquist area. Margie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Strandquist High School in 1968. Following graduation she studied Cosmetology at the Thief River Falls AVTI and then worked as a hair stylist in Karlstad. She then worked at Arctic Cat in Karlstad. On July 16, 1971, Margie was united in marriage to Billy Olson. They resided in Lake Bronson, where she was a stay at home mom for their children Shane and Darcy. In 1982 the family moved to Halma. In 1993, Margie started her new career at Polaris Industries in Roseau. In 2000, Margie and Billy moved back to Lake Bronson. In her spare time she loved flowers, bird watching, "BINGO" and spending time with her grandkids. She was a member of the Eidsvold Lutheran Church and the Halma-Lake Bronson American Legion Auxiliary. In April of 2010, Margie was diagnosed with breast cancer and spent most of the past two years traveling with Darcy to the Cancer Treatment Center of America at Zion, IL. She has resided at the Karlstad Memorial Nursing Center since December of 2012 and passed away there in the early morning hours of February 20th, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Billy; a son Shane (Amy) Olson of Halma; one daughter, Darcy Olson of Lake Bronson; brother, Gerald (Carolyn) Stromberg of Wever, IA; two sister-in-laws, Linda Stromberg of Blackduck, MN and Connie (Duane) Nelson of Plummer, MN; two brother-in-laws, Tommy (Paulette) Olson of Karlstad, MN and Jerry (Susan) Olson of Grand Forks, ND; one grandson Reed Foss; two grand-daughters Keely and Piper Olson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Margie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Merrill Stromberg and Ronnie Hanson; a grandson Riley Foss; a nephew Brandon Stromberg and a niece Dana Stromberg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Sat. at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad with Pastor Gary Halverson officiating. Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Fri. with a 7 P.M. prayer service at Collins Funeral Chapel, Karlstad, and at the church one hour prior top services Sat. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery at Lake Bronson.

Thomas Kuznia
Thomas Kuznia, 93, of Stephen, MN, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 20, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN.

Thomas Peter Kuznia was born on October 19, 1919, in Stephen, the son of Bert and Martha (Pietruszewski) Kuznia. He was raised in rural Stephen where he attended country school. He served in the US Army with the 45th Infantry Division from 1942 -1945. He served in the European Theatre. On October 28, 1947, Thomas married Greta Woinarowicz. They made their home in Stephen. Thomas was a life long farmer. He also painted houses and worked in the potato house. Greta died on October 17, 2009.

Florence Davidson
Florence Davidson, 86, of Langdon, ND passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

Florence Machacek was born October 3, 1926 to Charles and Mary (Berger) Machacek on the family farm near Dresden. Florence graduated from St. Alphonsus School in 1944 and went to Minneapolis to attend business college. After returning, she was united in marriage to Donald “D.J.” Davidson on October 15, 1946 in Dresden, ND. They lived on the farm for a short time then moved to Langdon. Florence was a homemaker but also worked for the government in the rationing department and was a receptionist at Otter Tail Power Company. She worked in the kitchen at St. Alphonsus School and, after retiring from there, volunteered in the kitchen at the Senior Center. Florence was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo at the Senior Center. She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church & Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, and Eagles Auxiliary.

Glenn Skjoiten
Glenn Skjoiten, 82, of Hatton, ND passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks after suffering a stroke. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:30am at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00pm with a 7:00pm prayer service at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton.

Glenn was born to Gustav and Myrtle Skjoiten on August 12, 1930 at the family farm near Hatton, ND. He attended elementary school at Washington #70 and graduated from Hatton High School in 1947. Glenn then attended NDSU and Wahpeton State School of Science. On June 27, 1954, he married Dorothy Bjerke. They farmed and raised their family in Garfield Township. In 1982, he became an owner of Hatton Ford, Inc. Glenn enjoyed his daily stops around Hatton for coffee and conversation. He also enjoyed playing golf, pool-billiards, cards, and bingo. He served on the Hatton Farmers Elevator Board, Grand Forks/Trail Water Users Board, North Dakota Dry Bean Council, the Hatton School Board, and the St. John Church Council.

Ann Marie Schultz Lagness, 93 formerly of Grand Forks, N. D. passed away on January 19, 2013 in Phoenix, AZ where she resided with her daughter Janet and grandson Remy Marceau.

Ann was born in Grand Forks County on May 16, 1919. Ann was a Hair stylist, owner and operator of Ann’s Beauty and Wig Salon for several years in Grand Forks. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and most of all spending time with friends and family.

Norma M. Mathiason, age 81 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.

Norma M. Christenson was born July 30, 1931 in Milton, ND the daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Loveseth) Christenson. She graduated high school from Fairdale, ND. Norma was united in marriage to Irwin L. Mathiason on October 28, 1949 in Edinburg, ND. The couple made their home in Adams until moving to Edinburg in 1955. Norma loved children and helped several families in the Edinburg area with daycare. Irwin passed away on January 23, 1991.
