According to Dr. Michelle Carstensen, Wildlife Health Program coordinator for the DNR, the March 5-7 survey tallied an estimated population of 160 deer, by far the lowest count ever recorded in the survey. The DNR flies the survey in the 164-mile “core area” of a minor bovine TB outbreak near Skime, Minn.
