William Richard Jeffrey
William Richard Jeffrey, 67, Grand Forks, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 14, 2013, with his family at his side, after losing his short and courageous battle with cancer.

William was born on March 24, 1945 in Fargo, ND and adopted by Harvard F. and Mary (Brossart) Jeffrey. He was raised in Grand Forks and attended St. Michael's School, and later attended Valley Middle School and Central High School. William served in the North Dakota National Guard from 1965 to 1971 as a cook for the Grand Forks 231st Engineering Unit. William recently celebrated his 46th wedding anniversary with his wife, Lois (Fontaine) Jeffrey, whom he married on August 20, 1966. They had two children, Annette and Richard. William was a baker for Hugo's for 44 years before his retirement in 2008. Starting work there at the age of 19, he was a part of the first original team of bakers. After his retirement, he then had a part time job as a warehouse helper and truck driver with the Grand Forks Public Schools Child Nutrition Program, where he was employed until his passing. Bill will be remembered for his love of his family, his quiet manner, his smile, and his willingness to always help others. His family would like to thank Altru Hospice and the Altru Cancer Center for the care they gave to Bill.
