Roman V. Dube
Roman V. Dube, age 87 of Pisek, ND passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River, ND.
Roman V. Dube was born August 10, 1925 in Medford Township of Walsh County, ND the son of the late Frank and Anna (Zikmund) Dub. He grew up and attended rural school near Pisek. Following his education he worked for area farmers in the Park River, Pisek and Mekinok area. Roman was united in marriage to Maxine Studney on October 14, 1946 in Pisek. In 1954 the couple started farming in Medford Township. Maxine passed away on Aug. 14, 1986. Roman continued to live on the family farm until 2010 when he moved in with his daughter Deborah Lee. He lived there until September 10, 2012 when he moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Park River.

Janie M. Capp, age 66 of Lankin, ND passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center of Fargo.
Janie Maureen Borgeson was born October 2, 1946 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Maurice and Vera (Phair) Borgeson. She attended rural school in Vernon Township and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River in 1964. She graduated from Bernel’s Hair Dressing School in Grand Forks in 1965. Janie was united in marriage to John Capp on March 20, 1965 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lankin. The couple made their home near Lankin. She worked for a beauty shop in Fordville for a short time. She later worked at Jim’s Super Value and the Cenex both in Park River. Janie has been the branch manager for Citizen’s State Bank in Lankin for the last 12 years.

Norman G. Graber, 75 of Park River, ND passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at First Care Health Center of Park River.
Norman G. Graber was born September 6, 1937 near Alsen, ND the son of the late Paul and Kathryn (Rohn) Graber. He graduated from Alsen High School. He was baptized in the Swiss Mennonite Church in Alsen. Following graduation he drove gravel truck for the Minot Air Force Base. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Spenst on June 21, 1959 in Alsen. He worked at a bank in Langdon for seven years. In 1967 he took a job at Polar Communications in Park River, ND as an accountant. He retired in 1998 after 31 years of service.

Helen Mae Arlene Laaveg
Helen Mae Arlene Laaveg, age 91 of Park River passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.
Helen Mae Arlene Klungness was born May 29, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of the late Halvor and Rose (Markholt) Klungness. She spent her childhood in Dundee Township, Edinburg and Grafton. She graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School, Park River in 1938. She then graduated and received her diploma from Deaconess Hospital in 1942. After she received her R.N., Helen joined the Navy Nurse Corp. She served from 1942-1946 at the San Diego Naval Hospital. Helen was united in marriage to Joseph Laaveg September 1, 1947 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. The couple lived and farmed in Vernon Township until 1984 when they moved into Park River. Helen started working for the Lutheran Sunset Home in 1965. In July 1976 she began working for the Park River Good Samaritan Center, retiring in 1992. Joseph died January 14, 2005. In 2009 Helen was able to participate with the Honor Flight. In January 2011 Helen moved to the Good Samaritan Apartments, where she resided until the time of her death.

Robert A. Peterson
Robert Allan Peterson, age 56 of Warroad, MN went home to be with Jesus on January 10, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. He was born June 16, 1956 on the Francis E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WY to Allan and Phyllis (Sundquist) Peterson. He grew up on a farm in Aneta, ND. As a young boy he enjoyed trapping muskrats and mink and raising his pigs. He also had 34 head of cattle when he graduated. He accepted Jesus into his heart and was baptized by the Holy Spirit at Strawberry Lake, MN in 1964. Bob took an interest in carpentry while in high school and finished his bedroom in the basement of his family home. He graduated from Aneta High School in 1974. He was involved in basketball, 4-H, and band. He attended East Grand Forks AVTI in 1975 for Farm Mechanics/Management. In 1976, he worked for Preston Implement in EGF. He married Nancy Thortsen in Warroad, MN on October 16, 1976. They had four children, Wade, Tanya, Sarah, and Tami. Bob and Nancy farmed and milked cows in Aneta, ND until they moved to Warroad in 1984. Bob became employed with Marvin Windows and Doors from 1984 to present. During his career at Marvin’s he worked in the plant until 1994 and drove truck until 2001. He then took a supervisor position in the Field Service Dept., where he worked for the last 12 years. He was recognized for Outstanding Service and Excellence and was presented the prestigious President’s Award. On August 10, 2007, Bob married Cathy (Klegstad/Maloney) and welcomed a stepson Michael Maloney.
In 1995, he was diagnosed with Chronic Myloginist Leukemia which required a bone marrow transplant with his brother Mark being the donor. In 2001, Bob contracted pneumococcal meningitis which resulted in below the knee bilateral amputation and required him to use prostheses. In 2010, he was diagnosed with head and neck cancer located at the base of the tongue. The head and neck cancer metastasized in 2012 to the lining of the lungs and chest lymph nodes.
