AT THE OFFICE: Employed by the Net
I've never sold anything on eBay, but I've often thought about it when I see how much money I have in my checking account. And when times are this bad, I know I'm not alone. But what if I want something a little steadier? Or what if I don't want to sell my old junk? People are turning to the Web to make extra money - and not just to sell old books, jewelry, and Super Nintendos. Some people are using the Web to get freelance and temporary work.

Adam Carolla goes from canceled to podcast king
Sitting inside his palatial Hollywood Hills mansion, Adam Carolla and his talk show host pal Jimmy Kimmel chat candidly — in a frenetic, almost stream-of-consciousness way — about pornography, Siegfried and Roy, the modeling industry, gay rodeos and the children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are.”

ANN BAILEY: Newspapers remain essential part of our lives
Besides the altruistic reasons for speaking to classes about writing and newspapers I have another, perhaps more selfish one: I want to do my part to promote the industry in which I work. I believe strongly in the value of newspapers and hope they remain an essential part of Americans’ daily lives. I know that I might be swimming against the current because there has been much written about the demise of the newspaper industry and the fact that few people these days have interested in reading the printed word.
