Men's hockey notebook: Tougher in Alaska
Sioux struggle on the road against Alaska-Anchorage
It may be the long plane flight, the three-hour time change, the different schedule or the mystique of Sullivan Arena. Whatever the reasoning, the UND men’s hockey team has not had great fortune in the Last Frontier.

NFL: Five takeaways help Ravens beat Dolphins 27-9
MIAMI — Chad Pennington waited in front of his end zone, the last line of defense for the Miami Dolphins. A blocker buried him — just like the Baltimore Ravens treated Pennington and the Dolphins all day. The block allowed Ed Reed to complete a 64-yard interception return for a touchdown, and the Ravens came up with four other takeaways today to win 27-9, spoiling the Dolphins’ first playoff game in seven seasons.

Men's hockey: Sioux top Beavers
BEMIDJI – In two years, Bemidji State will finally get its long-awaited new hockey arena. UND and its fans might not want that to happen, though. The Sioux beat the Beavers 4-3 on Friday night in yet another fast-paced, thrilling hockey game in a loud and packed John S. Glas Fieldhouse. In a contest reminiscent to the previous games here, the 2,414 in attendance were on edge until the final seconds.

HITTING HOME: Market crunch pushes borrowing costs higher, threatens school, road projects
Lending to consumers and businesses has fallen to a dangerously slow pace amid the credit crisis that is now more than a year old. Borrowing by state and local governments with good credit usually is easy, thanks to rules that make lenders' profits tax-exempt.
