Lyle Irving Kallestad
Lyle Irving Kallestad was born August 12, 1928, on the family farm near Michigan in Nelson County, North Dakota, to John C. and Minnie (Master) Kallestad. He was baptized at Michigan Lutheran Church and attended Williams Consolidated School. He graduated from Michigan High School in 1946 and in September was inducted into the US Army. He was assigned to the Signal Corps and served with Occupational Forces in Yokohama, Japan. Following his honorable discharge in December 1947, he enrolled at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Education.
On June 30, 1950, at Center Lutheran Church in rural Michigan, Lyle was united in marriage to Donna Hendrickson. After marriage they lived and taught in Colgate, Finley and Lakota, North Dakota. During these years Lyle continued his education and received his Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of North Dakota. He worked as a Counselor at Wahpeton High School, Grand Forks Central High School, and Eielson Elementary School in North Dakota. Lyle also served as president and member of the North Dakota Personnel and Guidance Association, and was a member of NEA and NDEA. After his retirement, Lyle and Donna moved to Northfield, Minnesota to be near their sons.

Devils Lake police are searching for two males who robbed a bowling alley. The Devils Lake Journal reports that the suspects entered Royal Lanes late Sunday afternoon, displayed a knife and demanded money from the clerk.

Mary Margaret Hefter
Mary Margaret Hefter, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 peacefully with her family beside her in Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. She was 97 years, 10 months and 14 days old.
Mary Margaret Anderson was born May 13, 1915 in Craddenstown, County Meade, Ireland. During World War II, she met Frank Hefter and they moved to Devils Lake, North Dakota and were married on December 6, 1946. Frank preceded her in death in 1960. Following his death, she moved with her family to Grand Forks. Mary was employed as a Ward Secretary with Deaconess Hospital until its closing and later with United Hospital until her retirement in 1984. After retiring, Mary moved with her daughter, Maureen to League City, TX, where they lived for 11 years. They returned to Grand Forks in 1996. For 3 ½ years, Mary resided at Tufte Manor until moving to Valley Eldercare Center in September of 2012. She was an active member of United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.
