Huge Minnesota ice fishing tournament postponed beause of thin ice
One of Minnesota's largest ice fishing tournaments has been postponed until next month because the ice is not quite thick enough. The Brainerd Jaycees said Thursday that the "Ice Fishing Extravaganza" on Gull Lake, scheduled for Jan. 21, has been postponed until Feb. 11.

CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls) responded to a call of two whitetail bucks locked together in battle and found that the larger of the two had already expired and the second was frantically trying to free itself. With few options and keeping safety in mind, Woinarowicz shot the antler off of the dead buck with a slug from his patrol shotgun. The antlers flew apart and the live buck bounded away.
