Linda McGregor, Grand Forks, letter: Student misconduct spills over from arena
Students have responded that their section is the backbone of support for the Fighting Sioux. I don’t think our players who look around at sellout crowds cheering them on regard this vulgar group as a necessity for success on the ice.

He scoots across the floor on his belly, pawing earnestly at the smooth tile with his right front leg while his crippled left legs drag along. Bruno’s brown tail wags the entire way, exposing his constant craving for attention.

First Night: Great minds think alike
A week ago, this space made the case for holding First Night in the Alerus Center. It turns out that I wasn’t first with the idea. About 2,000 attend First Night
About 2,000 people took part in the 15th annual First Night New Year’s Eve festivities in downtown Grand Forks a week ago, a number that organizers said was down “a little” but couldn’t say exactly by how much. Attendance has dwindled at First Night in recent years from all time highs of 5,000, 8,000, even 11,000 people in downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. The number of entertainers and performance places has dropped, too, and events this year were in Grand Forks only.
