Delano Hafter Einess, age 79, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Edina, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013. Del was born in Fosston, Minnesota, to Joseph and Hilda (Egeland) Einess. He graduated from Climax High School in 1951 and obtained undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Dakota. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany. After graduating from law school, Del, with the assistance of his wife Maylu, started a law practice in Enderlin, North Dakota. A short time later, they moved to the Twin Cities area when Del accepted a position as a real estate executive with Standard Oil. Most of Del's career, however, was spent as a successful real estate developer and entrepreneur. He developed many commercial properties over the course of his career including shopping centers, medical buildings, and Perkins restaurants. His love, generosity, and friendly disposition will be sadly missed. Del leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Maylu; three children, Jon (Susan) Einess, Ward (Patrick Sullivan) Einess, and Nancie (Brad Bridwell) Einess; one grandchild, Isabelle Einess, all of Minneapolis; and a brother Glendis "Glen" J. (Lucy) Einess of Bloomington, two sisters-in-law, Joan Erickson and Catherine Johnson and several nieces and nephews. Del is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hilda Einess, his sister, Yvonne, an infant brother, Warren, as well as sisters-in-law LaVonne Chapman and Betty (Tracy) Barber. Willard Leroy Weiss
Willard Leroy Weiss, age 83, of Crookston, MN, died peacefully late Thursday evening, May 2, 2013, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, with his wife, LouAnn, and other family at his bedside. Willard was born in Red Lake County on December 2, 1929, and was the second youngest of thirteen children of Henry and Ida (Hinrichs) Weiss. He was baptized and confirmed at the Wylie Lutheran Church and grew up on the family farm near Wylie. He went on to graduate from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls. Willard entered the US Army on March 18, 1952, and served overseas in Korea during the Korean War with the 49th Battalion. For his service to his Country he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Ribbon with 3 bronze stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. After his honorable discharge on March 13, 1954 Willard returned home and farmed with his brothers. He then went to Buhl, MN and worked in the iron mines for a time before returning to Red Lake Falls. Willard was employed on area farms and worked at a Red Lake Falls implement dealership for a few years. On June 18, 1960 he was united in marriage to LouAnn Marie Zutz at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple made their home in Crookston and together raised their boys, Craig, Brent, and Kurt, known affectionately as "my three sons". Willard began employment with the University of Minnesota-Crookston in 1960 as a boiler engineer in the heating plant. After thirty-two years of dedicated service to UMC he retired on May 2, 1992. While working at UMC, Willard liked to take vacation so he could drive for farmer friends during the beet harvest. He continued to do so for several years after his retirement.
Willard had many favorite pastimes, including fishing at Lake of the Woods, hunting, playing cards, gardening, and being a loyal fan of the Twins and Vikings. He enjoyed going to his kids and grandkids games and activities; attending gatherings with his large relationship of brothers, sisters and their families; and sharing coffee and conversation with friends and participating in events at the Golden Link. Willard and LouAnn also visited friends and family while traveling to Alaska, Arizona, and the West Coast. Making sausage and jerky was his specialty and he proudly passed on his recipe to his sons. Willard was a devoted member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served on the board. He was also a life member of Crookston VFW Post 1902 and a member of American Legion Post #20. Willard believed in living a life of service to others and was a wise, gentle, and nurturing presence in the lives of his family.

Denise Ellen Fuglem, 46, of Larimore, North Dakota, entered eternal rest on May 1, 2013 from her courageous battle of cancer, with her family by her side in Northwood Deaconess Heath Center. She was born on July 11, 1966, to Elroy and Dorothy Johnson in Rugby, North Dakota. Denise was baptized in Bethany Lutheran church in Rugby North Dakota, and confirmed at the Michigan Lutheran Church. She graduated with the class of 1984 from Michigan High School. She attended Northland Community & Technical College in East Grand Forks and UMC of Crookston, MN. She was employed at the Altru Rehab in Grand Forks, and the Community Credit Union branches of Larimore, Northwood, and Grand Forks. Denise married Darrel Fuglem on November 9, 1985 in Michigan, North Dakota and together they raised six children.
Denise had a positive and spontaneous attitude. She loved digging in the garden, the color purple, canning salsa and spaghetti sauce, country music, dancing, and going to the demolition derbys. Denise was the queen of thrift store shopping where she loved to get the best bargains. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter,sister, aunt, and loyal friend. Denise was always so full of life, no matter what the circumstances were. Throughout her treatments she still made sure her kids and friends were well taken care of, as she always put others first. Denise touched many lives and is truly an inspiration to her family and friends. Denise will be deeply missed and in our hearts forever.

Gladys L. Brosseau
Gladys Brosseau, 93, of Drayton, North Dakota, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks.
Gladys was born January 24, 1920, on the family farm west of Nash, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Johanna (Dahl) Rutherford. She was raised and educated in Walsh County and rural Nash schools and graduated from Hoople High School in 1938. Gladys and two of her sisters, Alfreda (Babe) and Mabel owned and operated a ladies fashion shop in Drayton in the early 1940's. In May of 1941 she met and fell in love with her life's companion, Dean Brosseau, just out of Molar Barber College in Fargo, and who'd bought and set up a barber shop directly across the street from her apparel business. With World War II raging, Dean was drafted into the army and sent to basic training, desert maneuvers and eventually the ground war in France, Belgium, Austria and Germany. In the midst of all this they were married on November 15, 1942. Gladys was in the restaurant business with her sister (Babe's Drive-In), worked for a local clothier and then on January 1, 1956 went to work at Drayton State Bank where she remained for the next 26 years as a teller, cashier and Vice-President. She was a self-taught pianist, canvas painter and a closet poet. Dean passed away on January 29, 1992, just 10 months short of their 50th wedding anniversary. Gladys and Dean as a team were an attractive and accomplished musical couple, and would often entertain at community and family events with their vocal duets, Gladys on lead and Dean singing tenor.

Wayne A. Peterson, 80, died April 24, 2013 at his home in Buffalo, New York. Wayne was born December 26, 1932 in Fordville, North Dakota. After graduating from Fordville High School and Wahpeton State College he joined the Army and was stationed at Stansted England where he met his English bride, Patricia M. Druce. Wayne and Pat married in Fordville on April 20, 2013 and just lovingly celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Wayne was a draftsman at Ireland’s Lumber Company and became a part-owner. He later worked for Grand Forks Glass & Paint. Wayne and Pat’s daughter, Cherie Peterson, is an attorney in Buffalo, New York and partner in the law firm of Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria, LLP. Cherie and her husband, Dennis Woloszynski, have three children, Mike, A.J. and Rachel. Wayne and Pat moved to Buffalo in 1997 after the Grand Forks flood took their home on Lincoln Drive which Wayne and his father built.
