UND football players spent much of the past week helping local residents with sandbagging efforts along the rising Red River. The sandbagging drills have ended. Now, the Sioux will concentrate on drills that aren’t as rewarding but are a lot more fun.

Dear Shirley, They have snow in Pittsburgh now, but they staged a green Christmas for me last week. While people in Grand Forks were more or less enjoying a record December snowfall, the folks around Pittsburgh were reveling in a record warm day after Christmas. Really, Shirley! It was 69 degrees and they were running around in shorts and strolling along the sunny sidewalks!
