Alva E. Svedberg
Alva E. Svedberg, 88, originally of Larimore, ND passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, after a hard fought battle with Congestive Heart Failure.
Alva Elaine Trosen was born October 30, 1924 in Inkster, ND. She was the daughter of Ferd and Dora (Dowhower) Trosen, and sister to Della. Alva lived in Arvilla, ND and graduated from Larimore High School in 1942. She moved to Chicago with her parents and worked as a sales clerk and when the love of her life, Marvin A. Svedberg enlisted in the Marines, she went to work in the American Defense Plant as a riveter. She married Marvin on November 13, 1943 in San Diego, CA. They lived in Seattle, WA before moving back to ND in 1948, where Alva worked in the Larimore Johnson’s store as a clerk and was once named “Cheerful person of the week” by Marilyn Hagerty.

THE EATBEAT: Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy shine at Out To Lunch
The roast beef was tasty and so tender you could cut it with a fork. There was a well filled with brown gravy in the mound of mashed potatoes. And there was a serving of nice, firm green peas on the plate when I had lunch Dec. 10 with friends at a cafe called Out To Lunch on the main street of this town.

She bought 19 pints of cream at Hugo’s right before Thanksgiving. And that was the beginning of the annual marathon by Ilene Yanish, otherwise known as “the krumkake queen” of Fisher, Minn. She has a goal of making 3,000 of the delicate cone shaped Norwegian cookies before Christmas.
