Nicholas Joseph Matt, 84, of Tenstrike, MN, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Progress West in O'Fallon, Missouri. He was born April 22, 1928 in Osage, Iowa; the son of Hubert H. and Irma Ida (Moser) Matt, who precede him.

Mr. Matt served in the United States Navy from August 1945 to November 1947. He married Mrs. Bernice Evlyn (Brunk) Matt on April 15, 1950 in Crookston, MN.

Dan Fredericksen
On March 23, 2013, Dan Fredericksen slipped away without pain and crossed over to a place where the October skies are always bluebird blue, the game is always plentiful and the hunting dogs always behave. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at Bismarck Funeral Home, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life "Wake" at Sidelines Sports Bar.

Daniel Bruce Fredericksen was born in Williston, ND, on Aug. 5, 1948, to Earl and Lillian Fredericksen. He fell in love with the great outdoors at an early age, while on pheasant hunts with his father and older brothers, and camping trips with the Boy Scouts. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in high school. He was introduced to the joys of fishing while on family trips to Lac La Ronge, Sask. In later years he loved to fish for walleye at Lake Sakakawea and Lake Oahe.

A. Roger Kringlie, 85, of Grand Forks and formerly of Northwood died Friday, March 22, 2013 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

A. Roger Kringlie was born on July 10, 1928 in Portland, ND the son of Marcus and Clara Kringlie. He grew up and graduated from high school in Portland. Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the Philippines and Okinawa. He returned from the service and attended Mayville State Teachers College, the University of South Dakota and the University of North Dakota. He received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree, Bachelor of Laws and Literature degrees and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of North Dakota. He practiced law in Northwood, ND for more than 50 years. Roger married Julie Landman in 1955.

Dorothy “Corky” Fore age 83 of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Dorothy Mae Fore was born on March 13, 1930 in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of Olaf and Rena (Nygaard) Amundson. Dorothy grew up and attended Central High School in Grand Forks. In 1950 she married Donald Fore. In 1964 she returned to Grand Forks where she worked for Colburn School Supply, Sylvania Electronics; she then began employment with the University of North Dakota working at the Bookstore, Project Lignite, and the Chemical Engineering Department. She enjoyed weekend afternoon bingo, trips to the lake and going to the casino.

Debra S. Bidmead was born September 22, 1957 in Anaconda, Montana, the daughter of Walter and Susan (Chadborn) Bolkovatz. She grew up in Helena and moved to Grand Forks in 1978, where she attended the University of North Dakota in the Nursing Program graduating Suma Cum Laude in 1988. She worked for the Altru Hospital as a RN for many years until her retirement in 1999 due to ill health.

Kathy L. Alvestad, 56, Grand Forks, ND was brought home to the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2013 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks where she was lovingly cared for by her fellow nurses and staff on 6th Floor.

Kathy Lynn Jelinek was born July 26, 1956 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Richard and June Jelinek. She was raised and educated in Pisek, ND and graduated from high school there in 1974. Kathy was married to Bob Alvestad on August 10, 1974 in Pisek, ND. Kathy and Bob were blessed with two loving children, Melissa and Michael.

Marion C. Samson, 88, of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Park River, ND, passed away on Tuesday, March 12th, 2013, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Marion was born June 24th, 1924, in Minneapolis, MN, to John and Anna (Neste) Boese. She graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1941 and attended the University of North Dakota from 1941 to 1943. She completed X-ray technician training at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis in 1944 and then attended Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks for one year. She worked at the Campbell-Williamson Clinic in Grand Forks from 1945 to 1948.
