Before my marriage, my sure-fire method to know when spaghetti was done was to throw a strand at the refrigerator door and if it stuck, it was ready to eat. If it fell to the floor, I cooked it a bit longer before winding up again. Now (except during hunting season), I follow the advice of the National Pasta Association.
