E-pulltabs funding new VIkings Stadium could be hit or miss
Funding stadium construction with pulltab and bingo revenue may not be a safe bet. A professor who has studied the issue said predicting the impact that changing state law would have on pulltab and bingo revenue is chancy. And the organization representing charities that sponsor pulltab and bingo games in establishments across the state said the proposal to allow electronic devices does not go far enough to convince local charities to convert.

More Vikings stadium plans emerge
One plan is similar to an agreement that the Minnesota Vikings and Ramsey County have been pushing since last year -- but which has fizzled because the Minnesota metro County has been unable to develop a county funding source that key stadium legislators support. The other is scheduled to be unveiled today by three Republican state senators -- two of them freshmen.

Capitol Chatter: Dayton says racino money won’t come soon
The governor said that racino likely would be tied up in court for years if that is how lawmakers opt to fund a new Vikings stadium. Minnesota’s American Indian tribes probably would file a legal challenge over the proposal to allow the state’s two horse-racing tracks to add slot machines.

Ruth Wilebski
Ruth Wilebski, 97, of Lancaster, Minnesota passed away early Tuesday morning, January 3rd, 2012 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, Minnesota. Ruth Celia Norland Wilebski was born March 10, 1914 at the home of her maternal grandparents, Sam and Christine (Dahlman) Omundson in Granville Township. She was the oldest daughter of Otto Ferdinand and Clara (Omundson) Norland. Ruth lived in and around Lancaster for the majority of her life. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1933. On May 28, 1938 she married William Harold Wilebski in Lake Bronson. She worked at various places in town, among them the Post Office, Smith's Store, Liquor Store, Hardware Hank and the Co-op Station. William passed away in January 1988. Ruth continued to live in their large house at the end of Central Avenue in Lancaster. Eventually she moved into Lancaster Homes where she resided for several years. In the fall of 2010 she relocated to the Kittson County Heathcare facility. Ruth was a member of the Mission Covenant Church. She was noted for her cheerful disposition and genuine interest in other people. Ruth loved to cook, bake, sew, embroider, paint, garden, play cards and games like bingo and dice, read and stay informed about world and local events. Although her loyalty to the Minnesota Twins was tested over the decades, she remained a fan and very often got to bed well after a sensible hour. Ruth belonged to the Bowling League in Lake Bronson. She served on several boards including, Northwest Community Action and Lancaster Senior Housing. Ruth was also a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, a member of Tops and was a sponsor of the Community of Lancaster Education Group. But her passion was for her children, grandchildren and their offspring. Her words of wisdom were always sought out.
