Calm winds were allowing 40-some fire departments to get control of a wildfire that has scorched more than 7,100 acres in three counties since Tuesday. Evacuees were allowed to return to their homes in the area at noon Thursday, and cleanup began for some residents.

The former Noodles by Leonardo pasta plant in Cando, N.D., will begin producing pasta next week, about six months after it closed its doors. Noodles by Leonardo, which had about 225 employees in 1989, employed about 30 when it closed in October. Most of the recent hires are former employees.

Roberta A. Stengl age 57 of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Sunday. May 12th, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN with her family by her side
Roberta Ann Stengl was born on April 26, 1956 in Warren, MN the daughter of Dennis and Gladys (Myrfield) Anderson. Roberta grew up and attended school in Warren at Warren High School graduating with the Class of 1974. Following her graduation from Warren High School she went on and attended Akers Business College and then the University of North Dakota graduating in 1985 in the Accounting Program. On April 30, 1975 she was united in marriage to Jim Stengl in Warren. Roberta worked for Quality Motors in Warren until 1982 and for the City of Warren before moving to East Grand Forks, MN in 1989. She worked for John Deere and The Bike shop in Grand Forks, ND for 8 years. In 1992 Roberta started Stengl Johnson Cruise & Travel with Bob Johnson, and also was Gaming Manager for East Grand Forks Blue Line Club until the time of her death. She served on the Warren City Council. She was a member of the Warren American Legion Auxiliary #27, Happy Hobbettes Craft Club, East Grand Forks Blue Line Club, Women in Networking, and served many years with the Sioux Boosters. She enjoyed travel, crafts, and spending time with family and friends.

Donald married Donna Janes on June 12, 1949 at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. They made their home in Grand Forks and Donald worked at Bridgeman Creamery. Donald made a career working for the Post Office and retired after 30 years of service. During that time he was awarded the “Super Achievement Award”. He also worked part time at his brothers Pepsi Plant.

Ronald was born on September 3, 1944 to John L. and Stephie (Kosmatka) Ebertowski. He grew up in West Oslo, ND where he graduated from the Oslo High School. He then attended Aakers Business College in Fargo, ND. He joined the United States Air Force and served for 4 years in Japan. He returned to Minneapolis and worked for 3M Company before retiring in 2008.
