Drug, sex offenses increase in Grand Forks County in 2012
Drug arrests increased nearly 50 percent last year over 2011 figures and made up the bulk of all offenses in Grand Forks County, outside of the city of Grand Forks. Meanwhile, the number of forcible sex offenses doubled in the county in 2012 compared to the previous year, although the raw figures remained relatively low at 18, according to statistics released today by Sheriff Bob Rost.

Attorney Steven Paul Lundeen has been suspended by the Minnesota Supreme Court, pending further disciplinary proceedings. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it’s experiencing a marked increase in the amount of drug trafficking arrests made by state troopers. Troopers discovered about 20 pounds of marijuana, a ½-pound of methamphetamine and seized more than $5,000 of drug-related money from September 2008 through August, the patrol said in a press release.
