  • The Nature Conservancy on Dec. 19 announced the transfer of the final parcel of restored prairie land to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuge. TNC in 2000 bought more than 24,000 acres of land in Polk County with the intent of restoring the prairie and wetland habitat and transferring it to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for a national wildlife refuge.
