Gordon "Gordy" Brelie
Gordon “Gordy” Brelie, 90, Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Larimore, ND died Friday, March 8, 2013 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.Gordy was born June 23, 1922 in Sacred Heart, MN, the son of Juul and Gunda (Dybsand) Brelie. He attended schools in Morris, MN and later farmed with his brother near Sacred Heart where he also owned and operated a bar.

Gordon “Gordy” Brelie, 90, Grand Forks, ND and formerly of Larimore, ND died Friday, March 8, 2013 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Gordy was born June 23, 1922 in Sacred Heart, MN, the son of Juul and Gunda (Dybsand) Brelie. He attended schools in Morris, MN and later farmed with his brother near Sacred Heart where he also owned and operated a bar.
Gordy married Margaret “Peggy” Moore on September 23, 1950 in Larimore, ND. They lived and farmed near Sacred Heart then moved to Los Angeles, CA where Gordy worked as an airplane mechanic for Lockheed and later Onmark Engineering. In 1960, they moved to Larimore, ND where they lived and farmed until Peggy’s death in 1984. Gordy moved to Grand Forks in 2009.
Gordy’s four grandchildren were especially important to him. He also loved to hunt and fish. He had traveled to many countries including China, Russia and Germany.
Survivors include his children, John “Jack” (Sandra) Brelie, Grand Forks, ND, Geri (David) Burkhalter, Niceville, FL and Sheri Brelie, Niceville, FL; grandchildren, Daniel Burkhalter, Matthew Burkhalter, Jason Brelie and Nicole Brelie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; sister, Clarion; brothers, Palmer and Rueben.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery of Larimore in the spring. Arrangements with Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks.
