Dr. Esther Leser

Dr. Esther H. Leser, 87, Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.

Dr. Leser, and her husband Bernhardt A.E. Leser, came to the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, as a Professor of Comparative Literature in 1969. She taught French, German and Swedish languages and held the position of Thesis Advisor at the Graduate Level. Dr. Leser retired as Professor Emeritus after a 30 plus year academic career.

Dr. Leser never lost interest in her students and continued her literary writings until the last days of her busy life.

She is survived by her daughters, Kristina von Hlatky and Karla Vettorazzo; grand-children, Michele Vettorazzo, Monica Vettorazzo and Stefanie von Hlatky, her husband, Philippe Lacoursiere; great grand children, Ian and Zac Lacoursiere; niece, Krisztina Simonffy Andahazy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernhardt.

Memorial Liturgy: 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 in the Historic Norman Funeral Home - Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, 2950 S. Washington St., Grand Forks.

Family Greeting: One hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral chapel on Monday.
