Patricia “Pat” Whelan, 74, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, at her home in Crystal, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Crystal, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, March 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.Patricia M. Whelan was born January 20, 1939 at Grand Forks, ND to Francis and Ethel (Hoesley) Whelan. She grew up in Crystal and graduated from Crystal High School. After high school she received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s Degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She taught Spanish for one year at Grand Forks Central High School. Pat then worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and later returned to Crystal where she resided. Pat enjoyed traveling and spending time visiting her good friend, Grace O’Toole. She also enjoyed visiting friends and residents of the Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND.

Survivors include her aunt, Rita Gust, Morris Minnesota; cousins: Henry Freschett, Bobbi Ann Jenson, Jan Freschett, Anthony Aymond, Thomas Weiss, Bill Weiss, Mary Ann Elvrum, Kay Hoover, Carol Fredonberg, Paul Weiss, John Weiss, Margaret Rust, Al Weiss, Barbara Spaulding, Patty Pfeifer, Bill Gust, Louis Gust, Susan Uhas ,Tom O'Toole.
Preceding her in death were her parents, grandparents: Patrick and Roseanna Whelan, Henry and Mamie Hoesley; aunts: Elizabeth Stafford, Dorothy Aymond, Nettie Freschett, Elizabeth O'Toole, Ann Weiss; cousins, Michael Aymond and Mary Kate DuLuney.
