Verna Holweger-Gustavson, age 90, of Jordan, MN and formerly of Grand Forks, ND passed away on March 4, 2013, in Jordan, MN.Verna was born in Arvilla, ND on July 26, 1922. She attended Arvilla grade school and graduated from Emerado High School in 1941. Her past employment includes Northwestern Bell Telephone, Scott’s Music, Davis Jewelry, and Sam’s Club in Grand Forks. She married Kermit “Gus” Gustavson on Aug. 8, 1946. He passed away in 1994. In 2006 she moved with her family to Jordan, MN.

Verna was born in Arvilla, ND on July 26, 1922. She attended Arvilla grade school and graduated from Emerado High School in 1941. Verna is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Russ) Hiney, Jordan, MN; granddaughter, Melissa (Todd) Sherette, Jordan, MN; grandson, Chris (Dawn) Hiney, Little Canada, MN; three great grandchildren; sister, Jane (Pete) Herby, Minneapolis, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit “Gus”; parents, Christ and Theresa Holweger; brothers, Don, Howard, Fritz and Bud; and sisters, Delores (Bill) Homolka and Jean (Russ) Syde.
A funeral mass will be on Saturday, March, 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 216 Belmont Road, Grand Forks.
A visitation will be on Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 south 42nd St, Grand Forks.
Spring interment will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks.
