Thomas “Tom” A. Ronan, 62, Manvel, ND passed away February 26, 2013 in Grand Forks.

Tom was born July 26, 1950 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Arthur and Edna (Kinney) Ronan. He attended school in a one room schoolhouse near Manvel, ND until 8th grade. After which he attended school in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School. Tom earned his Bachelor Degree from UND. He lived and farmed near Manvel, ND until he was forced to discontinue due to illness.

Thomas “Tom” A. Ronan, 62, Manvel, ND passed away February 26, 2013 in Grand Forks.

Tom was born July 26, 1950 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Arthur and Edna (Kinney) Ronan. He attended school in a one room schoolhouse near Manvel, ND until 8th grade. After which he attended school in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School. Tom earned his Bachelor Degree from UND. He lived and farmed near Manvel, ND until he was forced to discontinue due to illness.

Tom was a life member of Zion Congregational Church of Manvel where he served in many capacities. Tom was Secretary-Treasurer for Ferry Township for more that 30 years and an active member of the Red River Valley Sugar Beet Growers Association. He held several positions in the following organizations: Manvel Oil Co-op, Farmers Grain Elevator and American Crystal Sugar EGF Factory District.

Tom loved UND sports and was a member of Sioux Booster Club. UND Hockey was a big part of his life and his wonderful Sioux family (Al). Some of Tom’s favorite times where spent playing softball. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his cousins (Jeff, Dave and John).

Survivors include his sister, Carolyn (Ralph) Honkola, nephew, Scott Honkola (Melanie Slominski), niece, Carrie (Dane) Jackson and their children, Dillon, Lila and Dallas all of Grand Forks aunts, Lu (Paul) Bry, Lois Kinney and Georgia Mae Kinney as well as numerous cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother (John), infant sister and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 4, 2013 at St. Timothy’s Church in Manvel (not at Zion Congregational Church). Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of Grand Forks, ND.

Donald C. Bottineau, ND / Glendale, CA Farewell. my friend, you put up a valiant fight against your illness.I'll miss attending games with you and Al, as well as the other times we were able to spend together. we'll raise a glass or two to you when we go to Pittsburgh to watch the Fighting Sioux win number 8. D

Tom, I know you are in a better place....celebrating with the other Fighting Sioux fans that have gone before us. It was so fun being on Al's busses with you. You are an inspiration as to the fight you gave with the stupid CANCER. Keep cheering for OUR SIOUX....and we'll see you again! You were a kind, funny and thoughtful man. Your memory will be kept close. Peace.

Rest in peace my friend. It was an honor to have been your friend. I will never forget the 4th of July, and other times when the Manvel Mick's, and the Manvel Legion did battle in softball. And here is one last "GO FIGHTING SIOUX HOCKEY" for you. GOD bless you Tommy. Jeff "ffej" Rakowski and family
