Lester "Les" Holz

Lester (Les) E. Holz, 63, of Grand Forks, ND, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 in his home.

Lester E. Holz was born on September 26, 1949 in Winona Township, MN the son of Lester C. and Villa(Feine)Holz . Les was raised in Winona, MN and attended Winona High School. After high school Les joined the United States Navy and served for over nine years. After his discharge from the Navy he attended Air Traffic Control School in Oklahoma City. In 1984 Les was assigned to the Grand Forks Tower. He retired from the FAA in 2005. Les met the love of his life Maggie Bruggman in 1988. They were joined in marriage in 1996 at Las Vegas, NV. They shared a wonderful life together where Les loved to plan events, trips and travel. He was a loving stepfather to Bob with whom he shared a love of the Cubs and the Sioux. Les also enjoyed watching football, NASCAR and golf. He loved good food, good drink and had a bright, outgoing personality. He could befriend any person in a room and could make you feel like he had known you forever.

Les is survived by his loving wife, Maggie; step-son, Bob Campbell; brothers; Everett (Karen), Winona, MN, Greg, Winona, MN and Darrell (Peggy), Springfield, MO; sister, Renae Greve and Kevin Ronspie, Chicago, IL; nieces, Katie and Heather of Winona, MN and Sarah, Elizabeth, Rachel, Julia all of Chicago, IL.

Les was preceded in death by his father in 2003; mother in 2011 and his mother-in-law Helen Bruggman in 2004.

A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 south 42nd St., Grand Forks.

Visitation will be for one hour before the service in the funeral home.

Burial will be at a later date in Winona, MN.

Maggie, I am so sorry to hear of Les' passing. You are in my prayers and thoughts as you move forward without such a great man. The short time I was able to work and socialize with him was truly a memorable time for me. He will be missed. God Bless and keep you. Dan Alexander Birmingham, Al
