Clarence Hallan, 90, Grand Forks died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Hearthstone at Woodside Village in Grand Forks.
Clarence was born on November 10, 1922, the youngest of 9 children born to Margarethe and Charles Hallan and raised on the family farm in Ryder, ND. After graduating high school, he entered the United States Navy and served as a Radio Operator aboard the USS Navarro. He attended the University of North Dakota and had a long career with Valley Motors of Grand Forks.
On November 30, 1947 he married Norma Thompson of Thompson, ND. She passed away in January 1968. He later married Lorraine Austreng on November 25, 1977.
He is survived by his son; Gregory, Fargo, ND, daughter; Julie Howe, Bismarck, ND stepchildren; Greg (Heidi) Washington D.C., Dan, Goodyear, AZ, Debbie Austreng, Grand Forks, grandchildren; Eric (Nichole) Howe, Bismarck, Tyler(Char) Howe, Lincoln, Caitlin (Kris) Howe, and great grandson Brekken all of Dickinson, Matt Austreng, Grand Forks, Andy (Rachael) Austreng, Bellevue, WA, Maria (Saed) Glover, Mililani, HI.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in United Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service in the church.
