Thomas Kuznia

Thomas Kuznia, 93, of Stephen, MN, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 20, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN.

Thomas Peter Kuznia was born on October 19, 1919, in Stephen, the son of Bert and Martha (Pietruszewski) Kuznia. He was raised in rural Stephen where he attended country school. He served in the US Army with the 45th Infantry Division from 1942 -1945. He served in the European Theatre. On October 28, 1947, Thomas married Greta Woinarowicz. They made their home in Stephen. Thomas was a life long farmer. He also painted houses and worked in the potato house. Greta died on October 17, 2009.

He was a member of the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Stephen American Legion.

Thomas loved his Polish heritage, Notre Dame football, Duke basketball and most of all farming. He loved to see the crops growing and the harvest. Thomas enjoyed going to the Stephen Senior Community Center for meals and bingo.

Left to mourn his passing are five children, Gerald (Marilyn) Kuznia of Stephen, MN, Don (Cathy) Kuznia of Grand Forks, ND, Mary Ann (Jim) Gregoire of Grand Forks, ND, Colette Kuznia of Fargo, ND and Joanne (Cam) Fanfulik of Warren, MN; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph Kuznia of Stephen, MN, Theresa Dufault of Warren, MN, Barbara Campbell of St. Paul, MN, Florence Ziemer of Roseville, MN and Dorothy Anderson of Princeton, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Michael Swanson and siblings, Raymond, Eleanor, Antionette, Robert, Leonard and August.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Stephen, MN.

VISITATION: After 5:30 PM with a 6:15 PM rosary and 6:30 PM prayer service on Friday at the church and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.

INTERMENT: St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Stephen, MN

MILITARY SERVICE: Stephen American Legion

Mary Ann, I'm sorry to see that your Dad passed away. We should all be so lucky to live as long and healthy as he did. That's what comes with hard work. Spencer Hjelle
