L. Douglas Durkin, 65, of Niagara, ND passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 in Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks.
Leon Douglas Durkin was born October 26, 1947 in Grafton, ND the son of Michael L. and Zola M. (Bellinger) Durkin. He was raised and attended school in Niagara. He was employed with Knetter Cheese Factory in Lakota, ND as a semi driver, transporting dairy products to the Kraft Cheese Factory. Later, he was employed with Mork Insurance Agency until starting his own insurance business, Durkin Insurance Agency. Douglas was a man of kind and gentle ways and will be missed by his family.
He is survived by his siblings, Dallas Durkin, Shelly, MN, Daryl Durkin, Niagara, ND, Kathleen (Dale) Denault, Emerado, ND, Karen Durkin, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Marlys Durkin, Fargo, ND; his very special nieces and nephews, Lori (Swede) Bartz, Cindy (Norm) Aurland, Donna (Dennis) Krier, Patti (Chad) Lofton, Kimberly (Mitch) Stenseth, Damion (Melissa) Denault, Charles (Rena) Durkin, Lisa (Mike) Steinbrink, Danielle (Jeremy) Rehling and dearly missed by all his precious great nieces, great nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dwayne Durkin and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Durkin.
Private Memorial Liturgy: Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel.
Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery South.
