John D. Lapsitis

John D. Lapsitis, 47, of Paradise, CA passed away on February 10, 2013 in Paradise, CA after a short battle with cancer.

John Douglas Lapsitis was born on October 30, 1965 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of John and Catherine (Pederson) Lapsitis. John grew up in East Grand Forks, MN and graduated from EGF Senior High in 1984. He went on to graduate from the Auto Body Program in Thief River Falls. He worked for a number of years in the auto body field. Eventually, he found himself on the beaches in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he lived over the past 10 years. Fishing became his way of life and he truly found peace by the ocean.

John is survived by his mother Catherine Lapsitis, St. Paul, MN; father, John (Sue) Lapsitis, Watauga, TX; brothers: Loren Lapsitis, St.Paul, MN; Matt Ray, TX; sisters: Roberta "Bert" Lapsitis of Eagan, MN; Leslie "Shesh" (Mike) Lapsitis-Bjelde of East Grand Forks, MN; and the nephews and niece who brought joy to his life: Cody McLean, Sofia "Fia" Bjelde, River and Rayne Breda.

John is preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Shirley Pederson, Maxine Pederson, and Rasma Kalnins.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 21st in United Lutheran Church at 324 Chesnut Street, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 1 hour prior to Memorial service in United Lutheran Church on Thursday.

A memorial service will be held in St.Petersburg Beach, FL in March.
