Steven M. "Steve" Litzinger, 59, Grand Forks, ND passed away on February 7, 2013 in his home after a long battle with cancer.

Steven Michael Litzinger was born March 6, 1953 the son of Robert and Lois (Robertson) Litzinger in Grand Forks, ND. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1971. Steve joined the National Reserves where he served for 13 years. He lived and worked his whole life in Grand Forks, ND. Steve worked at Pillsbury, Jiffy Lube, Grand Forks Speedway, Ideal Aerosmith and currently employed at Strata Corp. Steve was married to Michelle "Mickey" Gregoire-Mortrud on October 2, 1998 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND.

Steve valued God first in his life followed by his family and friends. He enjoyed life every day. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He loved traveling, auto racing, and riding his special horse, Silver. Steve loved to "flag" for car races as well as children's snow cat races. He enjoyed the last 5 winters in Arizona. His greatest joy was to make people laugh with the stories he would tell, which were never told the same way twice. One of his great loves was spending time and playing with his grandchildren.

Steve is survived by the "love of his life", his wife, Mickey; his children, Steven (Darcy) Kindred, ND, Heidi (Chris) Solem, Grand Forks, ND, Tony (Karleen), Middle River, MN, Benjamin (Christine), Minot, ND; step daughters, Becky (Chris) Jacobs, Port St. Lucie, FL, Jackie Mortrud, Grand Forks, ND; 8 grandchildren, Brayden, Collin, Emma, Sarah, Shaylynn, Stephanie, Shannon, and Thomas; his father, Robert (Janet) Litzinger, Grand Forks, ND; brother, Randy Litzinger; sisters, Mary Kay (Kreston) Lane, Fosston, MN, Carol (Rod) Erickson, Grand Forks, ND; father-in-law, Thomas Gregoire; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Steve was preceded in death by his son, Thomas John; mother, Lois Litzinger and mother-in-law Margaret Gregoire.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday with a 5:00 p.m. rosary service and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service in The Historic Norman Funeral Home - Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Tuesday.

Burial: Calvary Catholic Cemetery North, Grand Forks, ND, in the spring on May 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.

Military Honors: Members of the American Legion Post 157, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Altru Hospice, PO Box 6002, Grand Forks, ND 58206-6002
