Richard Anderson, 80 of Viking, MN died February 5, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.He was born March 2, 1932 in Augsberg Township near Stephen, MN to Charles and Alice (Frei) Anderson. He attended Woodside Country School and the Karlstad school. Richard started farming in the Karlstad area and on June 12, 1951 he married Geraldine ’Jean” Meagher of Pembina, N.D. He was the owner and operator of Lake Bronson Grain Elevator. Richard and Jean owned and operated the J & J Restaurant. In 1993, Jean passed away. Richard entered a into a second marriage with Ione (Berg) Brosdahl.

Richard Anderson, 80 of Viking, MN died February 5, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
He was born March 2, 1932 in Augsberg Township near Stephen, MN to Charles and Alice (Frei) Anderson. He attended Woodside Country School and the Karlstad school. He was a member of the Lake Bronson men’s chorus, church council, Sunday school teacher and taught confirmation. Richard loved music, playing guitar, wood working, farming and helping with haying. Richard was a minister of hospitality with doughnut and lefsa making. Family was a priority and Richard loved to sing to his grandchildren .
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Ione Anderson of Viking; children, Robert Anderson of Lake Bronson, Roger (Lindie) Anderson of Hoople, ND, Roland (Laurel) Anderson of Drayton, ND and Rojeana (Steve) Nelson of Viking; step children, Jerilyn (Charles) Pletsch, Julie (Dwayne) Stich, Paul Brosdahl, Jodi (John) Helle, Steven (Nita) Brosdahl, Jon Brosdahl and Jaime Brosdahl; numerous grandchildren , great grandchildren; nephews and a niece; sisters, June (Gerald) Reese of Brooten, MN and Marlene Anderson of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean; parents; brothers-in-law, Gerald and George Meagher; sister-in-law, Gladys Meagher; great grandson, Ethan Arens; step-son, David Brosdahl; and step-daughter, Stacy Brosdahl.
Funeral Service: 11AM Monday, February 11, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking, MN.
Visitation: after 4 PM with a 5:30 PM Prayer Service at DuBore Funeral Home in Warren, MN on Sunday, February 10, 2013 and will continue for one hour before the service at the church.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
Interment: Lake Bronson Cemetery in Lake Bronson.
