Martin Wandschneider

Martin Wandschneider, 97, of Phoenix, and formerly of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away peacefully January 15th.

Martin R. Wandschneider was born January 2nd, 1916, to William and Mathilda in rural Lengby, MN. Martin served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1946. Martin married Joyce Hove on March 30th, 1946 in Fosston, MN. Together, they raised five children while living in Grand Forks, rural East Grand Forks, and Phoenix. They were married for 64 wonderful years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He also was a business owner, operating Martin's Glass and Body Shop in Grand Forks for over 25 years before moving to Phoenix. Those who knew Martin experienced his kindness, extreme generosity and strong faith in God. He was blessed with a long, healthy, and fulfilling life. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those who loved and knew him.

Martin is survived by his children: Larry, Boise, ID; Linda (Doug) Moen, Grand Forks, ND; Wayne, Marlene, and David (Kelly) Wandschneider, all of Phoenix; grandchildren: David, Christopher (Marilee), and Kailey Moen, Grand Forks, Kassidy and Madisen Wandschneider, Phoenix: sisters, Jeanette, Mata, and Phronie. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; brothers: Herb and Walt, and infant daughter, Marilyn.

A memorial service was held in Phoenix on January 18th, 2013. His burial took place at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix with military honors.

Linda, I have such fond memories of your dad when we worked together...me at FB calling him for estimates at the Body Shop. He was such a kind man and I feel privileged for having known him. The world was a better place because he walked on it.. Deanna Sandlie
