Joseph D. "Joe" Conzo, 69, Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in his home.Joe was born June 12, 1943 in The Bronx section of New York City. At 14 he moved to Massapequa Park on Long Island, NY. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force at 18 and served much of his time at Grand Forks Air Force Base, He spent 9 years as part of the Presidential Support Team at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland and Offut Air Force Base, Nebraska for presidents Carter and Ford. Joe retired as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of service. He worked several years as a federal employee in Logistics Readiness as an auto mechanic, and in Civil Engineering as a locksmith.

Joe was a longtime member of the Grand Forks Northern Cruz Club and enjoyed working on and driving his classic cars. He also enjoyed woodworking. He was an extremely proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Joe married Faye Brager on April 4, 1970. She survives along with daughters, Sandi (Mike) Harris, West Fargo, ND, Gayle (Scott) Dahlke, Big Lake, MN, Betsy (Blaise) Vicari, Monticello, MN; son, Chris (Sheila) Conzo, Grand Forks; 11 grandchildren, Meagan, Angelique, Christopher (Shannon), Meranda, Morgan, Emily, Rachel, Trevor, Kamryn and Jordyn; 2 great grandchildren, Michael and Isabella; half-brother, Anthony (Margo) Conzo, Beachwood, NJ; step sisters, Lorraine (John) Suscavage and Eleanor Stabile.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Stabile and father, Pascquale Conzo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday, January 21, 2013 in Holy Family Catholic Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks and will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in the Finley Cemetery, Finley, ND.

Just like Matthew above, I was a junior lieutenant and former NCO in the 448th, who looked up to Joe. He was the example I could point to of a great NCO and beyond that just a great person. Sympathy and thoughts go out to Joe's family. He will be missed by us all.01/19/2013 2:19 PM
