Martin M. Heffron, was born Feb.9, 1943 in Bismarck, ND, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Jan. 8, 2012 at his home in Grand Forks, ND. Marty is survived by his wife Judithe (Spicer) Heffron; two daughters Samantha (Neil) Hanson and their sons Eric and Ethan of Denver, CO; and Moriah Heffron and her sons Christopher and Nicholas Veres of Grand Forks, ND; and sister Moira Heffron of Minneapolis, MN (nieces Mageen (Brian) and Kaitlyn, Ellia, and Errol Caines; and Ann (Antonio) and Nina Porter.Also brother-in-law Jim Spicer (Julie Spicer, Lori Spicer, Robyn Bonrud, Rodney Spicer, Rachel Fuchs, Randy Parlette); sister-in-law Barbara (Spicer) Fladeland and Bob (Chad, Sandy and Hannah Fladeland and Bobby, Nancy, Bo and Autumn Fladeland); brother-in-law Larry Spicer and Jan (Richie West.)

Marty was raised in Bismarck, ND, graduated from University of North Dakota (1968) worked for Internal Revenue Service in St. Paul, MN and Denver, CO retiring after over 30 years service, also served active and reserve duty in the US Army retiring with rank of Major. Prior to being overcome by brain cancer, Marty spent his years coaching several Sunflake soccer teams and served as “Popcorn Colonel” for Holy Family Pack 13, treasurer for Northern Lights Scout Council, Viking Elementary PTO volunteer, and OLLI at UND. He is now and will continue to be very deeply, and sincerely missed by his family and community.
He was preceded in death by his brother John Patrick (JP) and his mother Maryruth Stephan Heffron and father Dr. Maurice M Heffron of Bismarck, ND.
In lieu of flowers please send donations in memory of Marty Heffron to: Northlands Rescue Mission, Holy Family Boy Scouts Pack 13 or the Altru Cancer Center.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 from 1 to 3PM with a prayer service at 2:15 PM in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 South 42nd St., Grand Forks.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at 4:00PM in Holy Family Catholic Church, 1018 18th Ave S, Grand Forks.
Marty has elected to donate his body to the School of Medicine, inurnment will occur at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
