Mary Ellen Skibicki, age 77, of Grand Forks and formerly of Fordville, ND, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village in Grand Forks.
Mary Ellen was born March 20, 1935 at Inkster, ND, the daughter of Kossuth and Mary (Burris) Trosen. She was raised and grew to womanhood in the Inkster area where she also received her public education. Mary Ellen married Harold Skibicki on June 11, 1959 at Conway, ND. After their marriage, the couple lived in Gilby where she worked at Valley Bank. They moved to Fordville in 1960. Mary Ellen worked at Fordville Mercantile before starting at the Fordville Post Office. She retired as Postmaster in 2000.
Surviving members of her family include her husband: Harold “Doc” Skibicki of Grand Forks; brothers: Harris (Mary) Trosen of Fordville, and Harold Trosen of Lake Park, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Anne, Donnley, Jean, Margaret and Theresa; and brothers: William, Bernard and George.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 4000 Valley Square Chapel in Grand Forks.
VISITATION: Will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Oak Grove Cemetery, Fordville, ND.
