Patrick was born in Chula Vista, CA, February 8, 1975. He grew up in the San Diego area, and occupied various parts of Southern California for 27 years. He loved the beach atmosphere of where he grew up. Therefore, his remains will be scattered in the ocean off the coast of his favorite beach in La Jolla, California.
Patrick was diagnosed with kidney disease before his 28 birthday, and eventually moved to Ohio for familial support. Patrick moved to Larimore, ND with his family in the summer of 2008.
Patrick loved giraffes, carne asada burritos, books, video games and animals. He had five miniature rabbits, all of which he took diligent care of, until he had a heart attack that resulted in a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in July of 2010. Due to his various medical conditions and brain injury, Patrick lived in Dakota Alpha—a skilled nursing facility that took wonderful care of him. He built meaningful friendships with the residents and staff there.
Patrick deeply loved his daughter, Rachel Piwarski. Since 2010, Rachel and her boyfriend, Adam, drove an eight hour roundtrip from their home outside of Grand Forks each weekend to spend time with Patrick.
Patrick was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, both grandfathers, and his uncle, John Piwarski.
He is survived by his daughter Rachel, and his future son-in-law, Adam Sletten; father, Edward Piwarski Jr.; brother, Jason Piwarski; and his mother, Patricia Rumbaugh; as well as his old friends Joseph Holweger III and April Holweger.
Those that knew Patrick will remember him for his wonderful sense of humor, spirited nature, and caring heart. He will be greatly missed.
