Jan L. Bjorg

Jan L. Bjorg, age 76 of Adams, ND passed away on January 1, 2013 at his farm home in Vesta Township near Adams where he has lived his entire life.

Jan L. Bjorg was born December 1, 1935 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Henry and Lillian (Olson) Bjorg. He grew up in Vesta Township and graduated from Adams High School. He started farming and ranching at the age of 16 after his father passed away. Jan was united in marriage to Yvonne Heffta on July 28, 1956 in Adams. The couple made their home on the family farm in Vesta Township. He enjoyed raising livestock and horses and was actively ranching and riding until his death. One of his favorite past times was riding through the coulee’s on a trail ride. He also enjoyed hitching up the team for a wagon or sleigh ride. A favorite holiday tradition was giving family members rides with his team of horses. He also enjoyed fishing and in his earlier years, water skiing.

He was a member of the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church and served on the church board. He also served as a township supervisor for many years. He drove school bus for the Adams Public School.

Jan is survived by his wife Yvonne (Heffta) Bjorg, Adams, ND; children: Naomi (Joe) Bovee, Plymouth, MN; Julie (Denny) Skorheim, Adams, ND; Paul (Renae) Bjorg, Grand Forks, ND; June Brostuen, Tioga, ND; Donald Bjorg, Point Arena, CA; Mark Bjorg, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren: Randi (Nate) Raan, Justin Vejtasa, Jared Vejtasa, Hunter Vejtasa, Callie Skorheim, Dana (Brandon) Smestad, Garrett Skorheim, Colton Skorheim, Shana Bjorg, Shannon Bjorg, Brock Bovee, Mariah Bovee, Cody Bjorg and Jessica Bjorg; great grandchildren: Peyton and Jaren Raan; brother: John (Teresa) Bjorg, Grand Forks; nephews: Andy and Michael Bjorg and niece Becky Bjorg. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry, nephew: Henry Bjorg; granddaughter Tana Bjorg; father and mother-in-law: Oscar and Selma Heffta.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Adams Mountain Lutheran Church, Adams, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at West Adams Lutheran Cemetery, Adams, ND.
