Lloyd Thorsgard

Lloyd Thorsgard, 78, of Northwood, ND passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:30am at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood. Burial will be at the South Cemetery.

Lloyd Philip Thorsgard was born May 12, 1934, to Knut and Anna (Flisrand) Thorsgard. He was the fifth of six children who were born at the farm home in the Northwood, ND area. He attended rural school through grade 8 and graduated from Northwood High School and the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus. He was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Judy Gallagher on October 19, 1963 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They made their home in Northwood where Lloyd owned and operated North Central Jobbers together with his brother Kenneth. Lloyd also raised cattle, including the promotion of several exotic breeds.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Judy, daughter and son-in-law Kristen and Daryl Johnson of St. Paul, MN, grandchildren Elise, Drew, and Dane, and sisters: Mildred Strand, Remer, MN, Kathryn (Wendell) Erickson, Hills, MN, and Ruth (Rev. Don) Homme, Vergas, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, children, Bjorn and Ann, and brothers Kenneth and Ernest.
