After retirement Phyllis could not simply rest. She became the Grand Forks Herald carrier for Buxton and loved working concessions for events at "The Ralph". At the end of every nights event she could tell you exactly how many wall-eye sandwiches and wraps she had made. She made friends everywhere she worked. Her co-workers respected her talents and effort. Phyllis had been a part of the early formation of the Grand Forks Speedway and enjoyed staying in touch other early members.

Phyllis was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Buxton. She enjoyed tending her large garden every summer, knitting, visiting with her neighbors and feeding the birds that lived in her yard. Phyllis would care for any stray animal that would find their way on her doorstep and always ensured that no animal would suffer if she could help it. The greatest of her love for animals was for her cherished dogs George and Max. Phyllis's heart was broken with the passing of Max, last week.

Phyllis is survived by sons, T. Alan Sundeen (Shirley) of Chaska, MN, Gary Sundeen of Buxton, ND and Scott Sundeen of Buxton, ND; daughters, Barbara (Earl) Jensen of Reynolds, ND, Susan (Larry) Kuster of Reynolds, ND and Karen (John) Plante of Buxton, ND; sisters, Sharon Berg of Apache Junction, AZ and Diane (Roger) Pearson of St. Francis, MN; sister-in-law, Ida Burud of Fairbanks, AK; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Also, by special friends, Bernell and Marilyn Asheim.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert and James.

Karen, I just got back from Christmas out West and saw the obituary about your Mother. Arlette also said you were in Last week looking for I assume a replacement for Max. Something like this is never easy, but it can and is really hard over this holiday. If there is anything we can do to help, just give me a call. Charlie and Arlette Moen
