Norma M. Mathiason, age 81 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.Norma M. Christenson was born July 30, 1931 in Milton, ND the daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Loveseth) Christenson. She graduated high school from Fairdale, ND. Norma was united in marriage to Irwin L. Mathiason on October 28, 1949 in Edinburg, ND. The couple made their home in Adams until moving to Edinburg in 1955. Norma loved children and helped several families in the Edinburg area with daycare. Irwin passed away on January 23, 1991.

Norma M. Christenson was born July 30, 1931 in Milton, ND the daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Loveseth) Christenson. She graduated high school from Fairdale, ND. Norma was united in marriage to Irwin L. Mathiason on October 28, 1949 in Edinburg, ND. The couple made their home in Adams until moving to Edinburg in 1955. Norma loved children and helped several families in the Edinburg area with daycare. Irwin passed away on January 23, 1991.
Norma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA of Edinburg. She loved to play cards and play bingo. She was an avid bowler and loved music. She was known for being able to play hymns by ear. Norma especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her children: Gary (Lois) Mathiason, Edinburg, ND; Karen (Thomas) Strand, Hatton, ND; Kathy (Mark) Sundby, Cavalier, ND; Randy (Gail) Mathiason, Adams, ND; Karla (Mike) Neunsinger, Thornton, CO; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; her sister Lenore (Stub) Hall, Lakeville, MN and her brother Ralph (Sally) Christenson, Apple Valley, MN. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Duane, daughter Kandace, a grandson, Ryan and siblings: Obert, Marvel, Doris, Chester, Russell and Barbara.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fairdale, ND.
