James O. “Jim” Roth, 77, Grand Forks, died Monday, December 10, 2012 in Altru Hospital.
James was born in Grand Forks on June 25, 1935 at Deaconess Hospital, the son of Jacob and Eleanor (Telle) Roth. He was reared and educated in Grand Forks, graduating from Central High School in 1954.
In November of 1954, James joined the US Army where he served as a medic in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1956.
On July 11, 1957 James married Lorelee Johnson in Crookston. They made their home in Grand Forks, where James worked for Bridgeman Creamery and worked his way up to being an Ice Cream Mixer. James retired in 1997.
James was a member of the Busy Beaver Carving Club at the East Grand Forks Heritage Center. He loved spending time with his family and friends; especially his grandchildren as well as fishing and relaxing at their lake place at Breezy Point Resort on Maple Lake, MN.
James is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Lorelee, son, James Jr. (JoAnn) Roth, Tucson, AZ, daughter, Stacey (Paul) Best, Carver, MN, brothers, Jack (Jeanette) Roth, Allen (Linda) Roth, Ronald Roth, grandchildren, Matthew Roth Tucson, AZ, Christopher Roth Phoenix, AZ, Savannah and Jacob Best, both of Carver, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Lois Schnell, Karen Matiatos, Ann Woods, and infant sister Shelly Roth.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 14, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. in Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Saturday for 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
