James A Koplin, 75, of Larimore, ND, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Valley Elder Care in Grand Forks, ND, after a courageous battle with cancer.
James Alvin Koplin was born November 28, 1937 to Elmer & Olga (Dunker) Koplin. He grew up in Ottertail MN, he was one of nine children. On April 16, 1959 he was united in marriage with Rosemary Reger. Jim served 20 years in the Air Force and was stationed all over the world and lastly at the Grand Forks Air Force Base where he retired. Jim and Rosemary had 6 sons. Jim spent 32 years working for the Larimore Public School district as a mechanic, then as a bus driver. It was a job he dearly loved. On June 19, 1998 he was married to Darlene Anderson. Jim also worked for numerous years as the caretaker for the Larimore Cemetery.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Olga Koplin; brothers, Melvin Koplin, Leonard Koplin, Robert Koplin and Ralph Koplin; his wife Rosemary, and son Kenneth Koplin.
Jim is survived by his wife, Darlene Anderson, New Rockford; sons John (Tammy) Koplin, Denver, CO, Jimmy Koplin, Fargo, ND, Kevin Koplin, Lawrence, KS, Joseph (Amy) Koplin, Grand Forks, ND, Mark (Dody) Koplin, Northwood, ND and Mark (Kim) Anderson, Fargo, ND; daughter, Kristy (Rick) Swenson, New Rockford, ND; 12 grandsons & 6 granddaughters; brothers, Marvin (Virginia) Koplin, Perham, MN and Tom (Sue) Koplin, Avon, MN; sisters, Vivian Whetham, New Rockford, ND and MaryAnn Dertinger, New York Mills, MN; 12 nieces & 7 nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 3 pm at St Stephens Catholic Church, Larimore, ND.
Military Honors: Ted Valerius Post No. 97, Larimore American Legion.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 14, 2012 from 5 – 7 with a 7 pm prayer service at St Stephens Catholic Church, Larimore, ND.
The burial will be in the spring at the Holy Cross Church Cemetery, Butler, MN.

I am going to miss you. We haven't seen eachother for a long time but I would rather remember you then. You are a wonderful person and a great second Dad.
