Sioux Falls, SD – Rudy S. Rishovd, 85, died Wednesday December 5, 2012, at his residence in Sioux Falls, SD.

Rudolph “Rudy” Rishovd, the son of Ole and Agnes (Stenberg) Rishovd was born October 7, 1927, in Douglas, ND. He graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo, ND in 1945.

On October 19, 1947, Rudy was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Dolores Ringdahl, in McVille, ND. Rudy was a lifelong farmer. He had two passions in life: farming and singing. He sang baritone in the McVille Male Quartet for over 30 years, and also had many solo performances. Rudy had a beautiful voice, and even played the guitar in his spare time.

Rudy and Dolores were members of the New Luther Valley Lutheran Church in McVille.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 65 years, Dolores of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Kathryn (Roy) Knudson of Sioux Falls and Karen (John) Abel of Tucson, AZ; two grandchildren, Dr. Cheri Kovalenko of Sioux Falls and Katelyn Abel of Tucson, AZ; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kathryn, Sofia, and Alex Kovalenko; a sister, Cora Steen of Phoenix, AZ; and a brother, Lawrence Rishovd of Medford, OR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, and a grandson, Kevin.

A funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Miller West Funeral Chapel, 6200 W. 41st St., with burial at a later date.

Delores and Kathy, It was very sad to see that Rudy had passed away. I have fond memories of coming to the farm when Kathy and I were in school. Thinking of you and the rest of the family, Cindy (Mueller) Ophaug
