Mabel R. Hell, age 90 of Park River, ND passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at First Care Health Center of Park River.
Mabel R. Lee was born April 3, 1922 in Cavalier County, ND the daughter of the late Walter A. and Mary (Johnson) Lee. She attended school in Langdon, ND. Mabel was united in marriage to Lavern Hell on June 29, 1948 in Langdon, ND. The couple made their home in Langdon until 1959 when they moved to Park River, ND. She ran the café in the Park River Sales Barn for several years, helped Laverne at the Locker Plant and worked as a Resident Care Technician for 15 years at the Grafton Developmental Center until retiring in July, 1995.
She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. She and Laverne were charter members of the Park River Volunteer Ambulance. She was an avid bowler in the Women’s Bowling League of Park River and in her younger years, played third base for the women’s softball league. She enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards and for the last few years was very active in the Park River Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and following Twins baseball.
Mabel is survived by her sons: Darryl (Vicky) Hell and Duane Hell both of Park River, ND; grandchildren: Cory (Jill), Matthew (Cally Odstrcil), Sarah and Brenton (Julia) Hell; great grandchildren: Zachary, Gavin and Jaxton Hell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Nov. 14, 2005; an infant daughter; grandson Aaron Hell and three brothers: Herb, Earl and Clarence.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 7, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
