Guy Roger Timmer
Guy Roger Timmer, 67, of Baudette, passed away suddenly on November 28, 2012, of a heart attack, after he spent the day fishing for trout in the mountains of Utah.
Guy was born on January 24, 1945, to Ray and Adeline (Christiansen) Timmer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At a young age, the family moved to Littlefork, Minnesota, where Guy graduated high school in 1963.
Following graduation, Guy served, for a short time, as a military police officer. He also spent some time in Alaska working on the pipeline.
In 1974, Guy began working as a lineman/ journeyman for North Star Electric Company in Littlefork. In 1986, he and his family moved to St. Johns, Arizona, where he continued his career at Navapache Electric. He and his family returned to Baudette, Minnesota in 1996.
Guy was always willing to help out a neighbor. He enjoyed driving the school bus in Baudette where he was adored by all of the kids. He also liked to garden and was adept with enough handyman skills that he could build a house, on his own, from the ground up. He liked to spend time with his family and was a whiz at Trivial Pursuit. You always wanted him on your team because he could answer 90 percent of the questions.
Above all, Guy loved to fish. In his spare time, he could usually be seen on Lake of the Woods, either in his boat, or sitting patiently in his fish house. No one could fry a walleye better than Guy Timmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Greg Timmer, and his sister, Carol Smith.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Diane (DeLack) Timmer, sisters Rene Lee (Ramon) of Waskish, Minn., Becky Timmer of Hawaii, Carey Krasensky (Rick) of Truckee, Cal., Angie Whelan (Pat) of Edina, Minn.; brothers Steve (Toni) Timmer of Mason City, Ia., Barry (Judy) Timmer, of Farmington, Minn.; sons Riley (Tiffany) Timmer of Salt Lake City, UT, Todd DeLack of Bloomington, Minn.; daughters Colleen Timmer of St. Paul, Minn., Lynn Beyer of Grand Rapids, Minn.; and his beloved grandchildren Kade, Mary, Shay, Zoie, Peyton, Annie, and Jayden.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 104 First Street, Baudette, Minnesota.
